Foster Grandparent Program of Central Florida
The Foster Grandparent Program celebrated its inaugural
year in 1972. That year, 80 Foster Grandparents
volunteered with children at just one site in Orange
County.

Foster Grandparents serve at least 20 hours each week.
They receive a tax-free stipend to help defray the cost of
serving. In addition, Foster Grandparents receive travel
reimbursement, a meal, and supplemental insurance while
serving. Grandparents are also recognized throughout
the year for their service to the community.

In 2002-2003, 289 Foster Grandparents served 214,000
hours volunteering with 3,500 children at 88 sites in
Orange, Seminole, and Osceola Counties.

FUNDERS
The Foster Grandparent Program of Central Florida is
sponsored locally by Florida Senior Programs, Inc. and is
funded by the Corporation for National and Community
Service, the Heart of Florida United Way, Orange County,
